Kaaterskill High Peak
January 7 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Kaaterskill High Peak was once thought to be the highest peak in the Catskills because of the prominence of some of the views from the Hudson Valley and because local Hotel owners promoted the peak in their backyard as the biggest and the best. It’s actually the 23rd highest of the 35 Catskill high peaks. However, Kaaterskill High Peak (aka “High Peak”) ranks fourth in prominence among Catskill peaks and has steep sides that can be difficult, expecially in winter.
This 6 mile hike with just under 2000 feet of elevation gain is part on trail and part bushwhack to the reach the summit canister. The bushwhack part gets steep and rough.
The hike is open to all with the proper level of fitness. Snowshoes and spikes will be required and you must bring your own to join the Kaaterskill High Peak Hike. Please register by Monday January 4 by emailing edmoran@gmail.com, calling 631-741-3765, or use the contact form below.
