Rusk and Hunter (Catskill Free Series)
**COVID-19 Alert – This hike may be cancelled **
The Rusk and Hunter hike in our monthly Catskill free series will feature a combination bushwhack to Rusk and a trailed hike to the spectacular fire tower on Hunter Mountain. Rusk Mountain Mountain is a relatively short but quite steep bushwhack from the Spruceton Trail. We’ll find the canister at the summit of Rusk and sign the log book, then return to the trail. Next we’ll enjoy a relatively easier trail walk up to the summit of Hunter Mountain where we can take in the views from the fire tower. At 4032 feet elevation, Hunter Mountain is the second highest peak in the Catskills. This 10 mile hike will be one of the more difficult installments in the 2020 Catskill free hike series as we climb a total of 3400 feet of elevation gain.
