SUMMARY:Blackhead Range
DESCRIPTION:The Blackhead Range is a prominent landmark in the northern Catskills and it’s three main peaks are the 3rd\, 4th\, and 5th highest of the Catskill 3500. In fact\, an average height person standing on the summit of Black Dome Mountain is breathing 4000 foot air. We’ll summit all three (Black Dome\, Blackhead\, and Thomas Cole on this 8 mile trail hike with almost 3000 feet of elevation gain. \n\n\n\nThis hike can be challenging for people unaccustomed to hiking in the mountains and you’ll need to carry plenty of drinking water. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Catskill 3500 Club. SUMMARY:Westkill Mountain
DESCRIPTION:October’s featured Catskill Social Series hike is West Kill Mountain.Westkill Mountain is the 6th highest peak in the Catskills and the highest point on the Devil’s Path trail (nearby Hunter Mountain is taller but the trail doesn’t pass over it’s summit). This trek is a great introduction to the Devil’s path on one of the gentler sections of the famous trail.   \n\n\n\nJoin us on as we hike past waterfalls and great views to the evergreen clad summit.This is a mostly moderate hike despite the lofty summit at less than an arms length shy of 3900 feet. SUMMARY:Wittenberg and Cornell Mountains
DESCRIPTION:These two summits\, rising to elevations up to 3857 feet\, feature steep climbing and scrambling to some of the most classic Catskill views.   If you like scrambling on Catskill ledges\, this is the hike for you.  In addition to the the famous “Cornell crack”\, there are many opportunities to go up and down ledges using both your hands and your feet.  At 9.4 miles with 3100 feet of elevation gain this is a challenging but very rewarding hike. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Catskill 3500 Club. SUMMARY:Westkill Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Join us for April’s Catskill social series hike on Westkill Mountain.  At nearly 3900 feet Westkill’s summit is the 6th highest in the Catskills and our route will feature waterfalls and great views along the way.  Hopefully we’ll enjoy nice spring weather but it is possible that winter conditions could still be present on the mountain during April.
