Both summits have canisters containing a sign-in log book. This all-day hike will cover 11 miles with 2600 feet of elevation gain and includes water crossings (which are usually low in August). We’ll have fun navigating several miles of off-trail wilderness\, but the final miles downhill on the trail usually seem longer for some reason. We’ll need to keep a steady pace to complete this hike in the allotted time. This is a challenging hike. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club. It will be a moderately strenuous hike as we will cover 6.5 miles and 1100 feet of elevation gain while aiming for a pace of around 2 mph. The hills and remote feel of the trails (despite being close to roads and homes) provide an experience reminiscent of Harriman State Park. Some of the hills are steep and there are a couple of spots that feature tricky footing. Windham High Peak is one of the less strenuous Catskill high peaks to climb\, but at 6 miles round-trip with nearly 1500 feet of elevation gain\, it is a good workout. Depending on trail conditions\, spikes may still be needed. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Catskill 3500 Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club. This includes 3 of the highest of the Catskill 3500 peaks: Blackhead\, Back Dome and Thomas Cole. At just shy of 4000 feet\, expect full winter conditions on these summits. Blackhead Mountain is one of the winter required peaks for membership in the Catskill 3500 club and this hike will count towards the winter requirement. \n\n\n\nThis strenuous winter hike will cover 8 miles and nearly 3000 feet of elevation gain. Snowshoes and spikes are required. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Catskill 3500 Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club.
