SUMMARY:Balsam Lake Mountain - Social Series
DESCRIPTION:Hike Photos from June 9\, 2022\n\n\nOur June social series hike in the Catskills will be to the fire tower at the summit of Balsam Lake Mountain. At 3729 feet elevation\, Balsam lake Mountain is the 14th highest on the Catskill 3500 list. The fire tower is also part of both the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge and the ADK Fire Tower Challenge. This hike of 6 miles with 1250 feet of elevation gain will follow one of the least strenuous routes to a Catskill high peak and may be suitable for fit beginners. Much of the hike is on an old woods road with a gradual\, but steady ascent. \nThe views from the fire tower are beautiful\, overlooking the thick crown of Balsam Firs that covers the summit and gazing beyond to surrounding Catskill peaks.
