SUMMARY:Rusk and Westkill Mountains
DESCRIPTION:Join us on our December 3 Catskill social for a day of hiking to the summits of Rusk and Westkill Mountains.  Starting from the same parking area\, we’ll do two hikes for the price of one (hint: both are free).  The total distance for both will be 10.5 miles with 3700 feet of total elevation gain.  The days are short in December and we’ll need to keep moving; not a race\, but at a moderate to brisk pace with relatively few breaks.  Mid November to mid December is regular hunting season in the Catskills so wear your blaze orange or blaze pink colors.  Anticipate that we will need spikes due to icy conditions and potentially even snowshoes.  This hike is for strong hikers in good shape. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Catskill 3500 Club. We strongly encourage you to consider joining these worthy organizations. \n\n\n\nContact Ed to reserve your spot on this challenging hike. SUMMARY:Sunken Meadow pre-Christmas Social
DESCRIPTION:Burn off some of those holiday calories before you consume them on this free guided hike.  If you live on Long Island\, or are just visiting for the holidays join us for this little tour encompassing north shore hills and Long Island Sound views.  We’ll hike 6+ miles with around 1000 feet of elevation gain during the morning of December 23rd.  The hike features some nice views\, a few steep hills and a surprising feeling of remoteness along parts of the route.  We may even spot a few [rein]deer resting up for their big day.  Please carry traction devices in case we encounter remaining icy patches or if there is additional snowfall.   This hike is a nice experience in a variety of weather conditions. We’ll still go in snow or light rain if travel conditions permit.  \n\n\n\nContact Ed to reserve your spot on this hike.
