DESCRIPTION:The Catskill Social Series on March 11 takes us to the breathtaking views from Giant Ledge and Panther Mountain. Panther Mountain is one of the four required winter hikes for Catskill 3500 Club membership. This classic winter hike covers 6.5 miles with 2000 feet of elevation gain to the 3724 foot summit. Snowshoes and spikes are required. \n\n\n\nThis hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Catskill 3500 Club. DESCRIPTION:Adirondack Mountain Club\, Long Island Chapter\, Nassau County\, Long Island. \n\n\n\nInstructor: Ed Moran\, Eastern Outdoor Experiences \n\n\n\nThis comprehensive 16 hour Wilderness First Aid certification course teaches practical skills that will enable you to respond to wilderness injuries and emergencies. \n\n\n\nWilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With ASHI Wilderness First Aid training\, first aid providers in a wilderness setting will be better prepared to respond when faced with limited resources\, longer times to care for someone\, and decisions about when and how fast to evacuate an ill or injured person. This comprehensive 16-hour course meets or exceeds the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines\, 2017 Edition. \n\n\n\nPrerequisites \n\n\n\n\nAdult CPR and AED certification is a pre-requisite. If needed\, CPR/AED training can be provided outside of WFA class hours. See Adult CPR-AED course details\n\n\n\n\nIncludes \n\n\n\n\nIn person instruction and course materials\n\n\n\nDigital student book and certification card\n\n\n\n\nThis class is sponsored by the Long Island Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club.  The cost is $180 for ADK members and $225 for non-members. Rendezvous offers an opportunity to meet other members\, interact and network with other guides\, attend seminars\, observe how the Association is working on behalf of its members\, and pick up First Aid\, CPR and Water Safety trainings for prospective new guides as well as the venue for re-certifications for current guides and so much more!
