This all-day hike includes an out and back route to Balsam Lake Mountain and Millbrook Ridge. After an easy hike to the Balsam Lake Mountain summit (and fire tower) we’ll hike the Finger Lakes Trail both ways to the 3465 foot summit of Millbrook Ridge and back. The fall color change should be underway and the views from the fire tower should be spectacular as usual. This is a 12.8 mile hike with nearly 2700 feet of elevation gain and we will hike at a moderate to quick pace. Balsam Lake Mountain at 3729 feet of elevation is on both the Catskill 3500 and fire tower lists. Millbrook Ridge is on another list that we shall not mention in this post, but it makes for a great extended hike.
This hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Catskill 3500 Club. We strongly encourage you to consider joining these worthy organizations.
