Kaaterskill High Peak

August 6 @ 8:00 am 5:00 pm

Kaaterskill High Peak was once thought to be the highest peak in the Catskills because of the prominence of some of the views from the Hudson Valley and also because local hotel owners promoted the peak in their backyard as the biggest and the best. It’s actually the 23rd highest of the 35 Catskill high peaks.  However, Kaaterskill High Peak (aka “High Peak”) ranks fourth in prominence among Catskill peaks and has steep sides that can be difficult.

This 6 mile hike with just under 2000 feet of elevation gain is part on trail and part bushwhack to the reach the summit canister.  The bushwhack part gets steep and rough.

This hike is being presented in conjunction with the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Catskill 3500 Club. We strongly encourage you to consider joining these worthy organizations.
