The August Catskill Social Series hike will feature panoramic views from the fire tower on the beautiful summit of Balsam Lake Mountain. At 3729 feet, Balsam Lake Mountain is the westernmost of the Catskill 3500 peaks and one of the easiest. That’s relative, but with 1250 feet of elevation gain over a total of 6 miles, this moderately paced hike may be suitable for fit beginners.
