We led a small group to the Hunter Mountain fire tower on the last day of calendar winter. For M, this counted towards his winter 3500 list. It was a beautiful day for a hike, sunny at times, cloudy at others, but always clear enough for great views from the rime encrusted tower.
We hiked via the steep Becker Hollow trail from Route 214, although the still deep snow cover made the snowshoeing relatively easy on a well packed trail. We saw lots of animal tracks, including some that we identified as likely belonging to a bobcat. On our way down we took advantage of the soft snow and channeled our inner child to do some fun glissading.
